These photographs are a look at the once conspicuous linguistic enclave in central Pennsylvania that is close to disappearing. As the outside world has encroached upon Frenchville, this phenomenon of language preservation, which astounded linguists 35 years ago, has since faded along with the identity of the people that live there.
